At Munns Farm Day Nursery, every child has fun playing. Playing indoors and outdoors stimulates creative thinking, the imagination and all the senses. Each day, a wide variety of enjoyable activities help your child develop mental and physical skills and their confidence.
Our approach to learning is founded on praise and encouragement to develop their self-esteem and well-being. Most of the daily activities are child-led and fun, and they have an extensive range of toys and games within their reach to engage them. Having the space and the time to play freely gives children the opportunity to explore, be creative or socialise. Free play has been proven to support independence as well as relationships.
The grown-ups also lead play and provide support with more challenging activities. Such activities are planned or can also arise spontaneously, based on the individual needs of each child at the time. Learning through play is not only fun, it is the best way possible to make sense of the world.
At all ages, we offer a play-based curriculum for your child’s learning and development. We aim to help them discover that learning is fun. This is vitally important if children are going to remain keen learners for the rest of their lives. Naturally, we consider their needs and stages of development to plan a challenging but enjoyable learning experience.
The Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS), gives us an outline to work within and helps when developing care and learning plans for the children.
Under this framework, learning is grouped into the following areas:
• Communication and language
• Physical development
• Personal, social and emotional development
• Understanding the world
• Expressive arts and design
You can therefore be sure that your child is well prepared when ready to leave the day nursery to move to a Primary or Preparatory school. We have also developed good relationships with local schools in the area and some teachers visit the nursery to meet the new children before they move on.
