Munns Farm Day Nursery Pre-School gives children a more structured environment. In pre-school, the children are introduced to their first part-uniform consisting of a polo-shirt and sweatshirt. The children work in groups and become accustomed to paying attention for longer periods of time. Our varied play activities support physical, personal and social development as well as creativity and skills development. Read our uniform policy here.
Most importantly, we always listen to the needs of your child and give extra support whenever required. Children at this age develop at different paces, so we will help each individual to overcome challenges and to build on their strengths. We also support them as they develop their social skills to help them become members of the wider community. Besides encouraging pre-school children to play and learn, we may have to moderate behaviour from time-to-time. We do this by distracting the child and then asking them to think about their behaviour. Furthermore, we help children to talk about and deal with any disagreements. This is an important part of creating a happy environment where children are friendly towards each other.
Pre-schoolers benefit from their own dedicated airy and bright area in The Stables. The environment is designed to encourage your pre-school child's independence and self-help skills. Flexible layouts support the ever-changing needs of a young, pre-school child. The space provides age-appropriate furniture and facilities such as toilets. There is also an area where they can enjoy the quieter activities such as reading, drawing and story times etc. Pre-schoolers also have their own outdoor playing area where they can play and explore freely, let of steam or participate in activities whilst enjoying the fresh air, all year round.
The outdoor and nature remains an important part of everyday play and fun. Pre-school children are also introduced to the digital world using Mini Mash, a safe online platform for children of this age. It offers fun, interactive, age-appropriate games to help them learn, create and explore. We also offer outings or visits such as to see the fire brigade or police.
At the end of their pre-school experience, we organise a graduation tea party with parents and children to celebrate their achievements.
